Amióta megnéztem a HAIR-t, másképp süt a nap – mondogatom, amikor eszembe jut, hogy 11 évesen a tévé előtt ücsörgő apukámhoz rohanok, aki azzal hívott magához, hogy siessek, mert olyan film megy a tévében, amit mindenképp látnom kell.
Attól a naptól kezdve a lehetetlent nem ismerő Berger megformálója, Treat Williams lett az egyik gyerekkori hősöm. Mivel előszeretettel játszott thrillerekben, rengeteg további filmjét az éjszakai sávban vetítették, de én akkor is fáradhatatlanul kuksoltam a fotelben, miközben titkon azt reméltem, egyszer majd kezet szoríthatok vele.
Bő húszévvel később az Egyesült Államokban, a gyerekkori álmaim után eredve jött el a várva várt pillanat. Erről a nem mindennapi találkozásról a készülő USA-regényben írok bővebben, de elöljáróban itt hagyom ezt a képet, ami azért sikerült ilyen viccesre, mert – azon kívül, hogy rajtam volt egy nagy adag adrenalin – vagy össze-vissza fújta a hajunkat a szél, vagy nem találtuk a megfelelő szöget, vagy nem tartottuk rendesen a telefont. Ilyen és ehhez hasonló csekélységek miatt nem bírtunk a nevetéssel, majd feladtuk, hogy „normális” kép készüljön rólunk.
Így visszatekintve, őszintébb fotót nem is kívánhatnék magamnak a színművésszel, aki meghatározó alakja volt a gyerekkoromnak, és nem mellesleg ma ünnepli a születésnapját. Sok boldogságot TW!
“Ever since I watched HAIR, the sun shines in a different way.” I always say this, when I remember my 11-year-old self, who ran to her dad who was sitting in front of the TV hollering “hurry up, there is a movie here that you need to see”.
From that day on, Treat Williams, who portrayed Berger, became one of my childhood heroes. Since he regularly showed up in thrillers, many more of his films were aired in the middle of the night, and I was there, sitting in my armchair tirelessly, and secretly dreaming of a moment in time when I have the chance to shake his hand.
Twenty years later, I was following my childhood dreams while traveling in the US, and the long-awaited moment arrived. I will write about this incredible meeting in my novel in progress, but I would like to post this photo beforehand. It turned out to be a funny one because – in addition to the fact that I was way too excited – the wind was constantly messing with our hair, or we had trouble finding the right angle, or we didn’t hold the phone properly. Because of these trivia, we couldn’t stop laughing, then we decided not to bother anymore taking a „normal” picture of us.
Looking back, I couldn’t have wished for a more honest photo with the actor who was a defining figure of my childhood and who celebrates his birthday today. I wish you a very happy one, Treat. And many more to come.
